How to Secure Binance with a Passkey

Overview​

Binance supports passkeys to verify your identity across most account functions, including 2FA, for faster and more secure sign-in than a password alone. Binance offers this both in its mobile app and on the website - this guide covers the mobile app specifically, since that's what the steps and screenshots below follow. The website flow is similar in spirit (Security → Passkeys → Add Passkey), but the exact screens differ - see the official resource below if you're setting this up from a browser instead.

Requirements

Passkeys require Binance app 2.60 or later, with iOS 16+ or Android 9+.

Why choose the security key option?

The default your browser offers - Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a synced credential manager - creates a perfectly valid passkey.

Choosing your Seedkeeper PRO instead changes three things:

  • The key exists in one place only. A synced passkey is copied across every device on your cloud account, and that account is usually protected by a password. A hardware passkey is generated inside a certified secure element and physically cannot leave it.

Step-by-Step Instructions​

Step 1: Open the Binance app and go to Account Center​

Tap the profile section at the top, then go to Security.

Step 2: Add a passkey​

Tap Passkeys (Biometrics), then Add Passkey. You may need to verify with an existing passkey or 2FA method first.

Step 3: Confirm your account​

Confirm the pop-up shows your correct Binance account email, tap Continue, then choose a verification method.

Step 4: Choose a security key instead of your device​

You'll be offered your device's biometrics or a synced credential manager by default.

  • On iOS: tap Other Options, then select Security key.
  • On Android: choose the NFC or USB option, depending on your Seedkeeper PRO's connection type.

Step 5: Connect your Seedkeeper PRO​

Insert your Seedkeeper PRO, or hold it near the top of your phone for NFC.

Step 6: Enter your PIN​

Provide your passkey PIN to complete the registration.

Binance confirms the passkey has been successfully added to your account.

Managing Your Passkeys​

In the Binance app, tap the Edit icon next to a passkey to rename it, or the Delete icon to remove it - you'll need to verify with a passkey or 2FA to confirm removal.

Does adding a passkey remove my Binance password?

No. Your password remains available as a sign-in option alongside your passkey.

Why register a Seedkeeper PRO instead of my phone's built-in passkey?

Both are phishing-resistant, so this is about what your credentials depend on. A synced passkey depends on a company and an account you hold with them. A hardware passkey depends on an object in your pocket and nothing else. Given that Binance protects your holdings and withdrawals, removing the third party is generally the point.
